Music and Cats

Two good things for the first day of summer: Finally, local strawberries are ripe! And rhubarb is still in season. There will be cobbler… (and I guess that’s three good things.)

Last June, our neighborhood got its own farmers’ market. Today, the Queen Anne farmers’ market opened for its second season.

Who would’ve thought it possible for so many peonies to grow on one small, urban lot? Just a few blocks from our house, those frilly, fragrant flowers have taken over. I hope they have plans to expand their empire.

Have I mentioned before that I wish I liked radishes? Oh, I guess I have. They come in such beautiful colors and shapes that I can’t stop photographing them, but I just haven’t developed a taste for that radishy sharpness. Any suggestions?
