Each of the ten autumns we’ve lived in our house, I’ve watched the large, spatulate leaves on the two statuesque horse chestnut trees across the street turn golden and then fall. And each year, I’ve noticed that the northern tree loses its leaves more quickly than the southern tree, though the southern tree is more exposed to the season’s blustery winds. Why does the more protected tree drop its leaves sooner than its sibling does? What is happening that I am not able to see?
One of life’s little questions

I didn’t pick up any sugar cane, tho I really wanted to! I make roasted eggplant with tomato curry and roasted persimmons which I then drizzled onto rice pudding. Both very delish.
Not sure about the tree question – but I will say they are both beyond lovely.
Boy – I wish I could type better on the blackberry. I MADE not I make. Shezz.
