CSA Week 4: Heavier

CSA Week 4

When I brought in our Local Roots CSA box from our front porch this afternoon, it seemed heavier than it has the past three weeks. And no wonder! Tucked in with the leafy greens were several items that, while leafy, had other edible parts.

Today’s box contained:

  • Head of red oakleaf lettuce
  • Italienischer lettuce (also a type of oakleaf)
  • Bunch mild mustard greens
  • Baby fennel!
  • Baby carrots!
  • Broccoli!

The salad greens are lovely, but I’m excited to see those other vegetables, which we’ll use for stir-fries, or sauteed with farro… or perhaps in a salad with some of that luscious oakleaf lettuce.

Thank you for sharing your CSA goods, KMcK. We loved the oak leaf and green leaf this evening as part of a huge salad.
