In the little newsletter that accompanied our third Local Roots CSA box, Siri wrote about the state of their fields, in which everything is growing more slowly than usual because of our cold, wet spring:
We all keep looking at the field and saying, “Wow, there’s a lot of food planted in the ground here.” Someday soon it will all be ready to eat, but for this week we have more salad greens and kale to share with you. The ups and downs of the weather are a major part of farming, and therefore, a major part of community supported agriculture. I have found myself to be much more aware and appreciative of the subtleties of weather and climate since I started working outdoors every day, and I hope you enjoy this weekly review of the weather and how it affects us all.
In today’s box, lots of leafy greens:
- Head of red butter lettuce
- Kohlrabi
- Head of escarole
- Kale
- Bag of salad greens

Lovely kohlrabi that. What did you do with it?
