At the film festival

June 5th, 2008 by Kimberly

Last night, Paul and I saw a world premiere at the Seattle International Film Festival (SIFF). While there was no red carpet, we did stand in a line that snaked around the block, we said hello to three of the film’s stars as they walked past, and we hung around after the screening for a Q&A with the directors and stars.

The film? Good Food, a documentary featuring a number of the Pacific Northwest’s small farmers and ranchers, who dedicate their lives to providing us with delicious, nourishing foods while also caring for their animals, their orchards, their land. Good Food mixes beautiful Pacific Northwest agricultural scenery, thoughtful, articulate statements by farmers and ranchers, activists, chefs and politicians, and footage from thriving farmers’ markets (including those I frequent each week).

If you’re in Seattle, you can see Good Food this Saturday, June 7 at 4:30 p.m., at the SIFF Cinema. And, if you’re interested in other food-related film, the Queen Anne Movie Guild will be showing Beyond Organic and Asparagus (A Stalk-umentary) Saturday evening, June 14, at 7:00 pm.
