At what was Sergei staring? I don’t know; I was busy trying to capture that intensely focused gaze.

(Perhaps he was trying to see the other animals aboard the Friday Ark)

    Natalie: Only the brothers, Sasha and Sergei, have Russian names. Those are the names their foster mom gave them, and they seemed to fit, so we kept them. Of course, they also have lots of nicknames. Lyra, our little gray kitty, is named for the character Lyra Silvertongue in the Philip Pullman “His Dark Materials” trilogy.

    Mrs. G: I am particularly fond of his two white eyebrows.
