I've had the same compulsions, but usually with dogs. I don't see anything wrong with it - it just makes more pets happy!

How do the other cats react to bunnybut. Is the lack of a tail noticed by them?

Is Bunnybutt neutered? That may be the cause of his spraying. If he is fixed, then he could be having a bout of cystitis or crystals in his urine. Hopefully he was checked by a vet. (I worked for a feline only practice for 12+ years...) most of the time the cat's problem in physical and not behavioral. I hope Bunnybutt is OK and gets to come back inside...

He *is* a handsome dude, undignified name notwithstanding. I love those Oregon coast views. How lucky Paul's dad is to have it all the time.

[...] A fur therapy? Oh yes, that’s what we all need when we are parted from our furbabies for too long. Momma says she knows exactly what you are talking about *thehee* [...]

Two confessions:
1. I took cross-species solace in petting a wandering cat just yesterday while my dog Chloe was away having surgery, and it was remarkably comforting.
2. My favorite childhood campground from our summer coast trips must be just up the road from where you were--Humbug Mountain? What a lovely stretch of coast.

Thank you for confessing; I thought only I sought out felines for a scratching fix. Mr. B looks like not only an excellent chin-rubbing recipient, but a chatty kitty, too--those are the best kind!
