Record-breaking rain and winds, and the return of the sore throat and cough that I thought I’d kicked a week ago. It’s cold and raw here, both outside and in. While the flood waters are receding, I’m attempting to drown my sickness in mugs of hot apple cider, fresh from a local orchard.

Does an apple a day keep the doctor away… when pressed into cider, heated ’til steaming, and spiked with apple brandy? I sure hope so.
