I picked up some yummy looking kale and romas today. What will you be making with the Romanesco cauliflower? I love to roast mine with green olives and fennel.

Tomatoes still in November? Oh you lucky things.

I just opened a jar of tomato sauce from my pantry, which is shrinking alarmingly quickly. Twenty-five pounds of tomatoes in August, and I'm not sure the sauce'll last past January!

We can get local carrots and beets all winter here in VT, but those soft wonderful fruits of summer are long, long gone.

The Houston farmers market is far smaller and more limited, but yesterday there were wonderful sweet fall cherry tomatoes, a multitude of greens and baby lettuces, beets (poor Tom-of course I bought some), green onions and satsumas. Of course the weather her compares to a Seattle summer day.
Alas no sweet potatoes or cranberries. It is not possible for me to be a locavore at Thanksgiving (or most other months). Love you, B

Iris's S would be Strudel--she loves to get an apple strudel when we go to the U-District farmers market. At the Broadway farmers market, it's usually a soft, salty pretzel. Today's the last day of Broadway for the season, so we'll probably be visiting U-District more often.

Enjoy your turkey!
