Oh you lucky things. I just opened a jar of tomato sauce from my pantry, which is shrinking alarmingly quickly. Twenty-five pounds of tomatoes in August, and I'm not sure the sauce'll last past January! We can get local carrots and beets all winter here in VT, but those soft wonderful fruits of summer are long, long gone. Tomatoes still in November? Oh you lucky things.

Of course the weather her compares to a Seattle summer day. Alas no sweet potatoes or cranberries. It is not possible for me to be a locavore at Thanksgiving (or most other months). At the Broadway farmers market, it's usually a soft, salty pretzel. Today's the last day of Broadway for the season, so we'll probably be visiting U-District more often. Enjoy your turkey!
