Sergei is always watching, whether it be Miss Lyra (whom he adores in the clumsy way of a teenage boy), a bug on the wall (which he will likely catch and eat), or something out the window (about which he may comment… or perhaps not). When I have my camera pointed at him, Sergei will often choose not to watch me, unless I talk to him. When I tell him what a handsome boy he is, he mews and struts and preens, he reaches a paw out to me, he does anything but sit still for me to take a picture of his beautiful face.
When I’m talking to Sergei, this is the sort of photo I get of him:
I guess I can’t blame him; hearing sweet nothings makes me a little soft and fuzzy around the edges, too.

I love Sergei- and your description of his love for Miss Lyra fits McCloud and Sophie perfectly. You have been much on my mind this weekend! We had friends in from Ann Arbor and he is the UM head architect. He’s good friends with the head of Streeter??? I don’t know that firm but I said (smugly), “I have a friend who is an architect in Seattle. And then there was the Lyric Opera at Pritzger and I thought of you. And now we have a new “member of the family” and I thought of you…
