Feline Not-quite-Friday: Blur

Posted by Kimberly under Cats

Is the image below: a) a picture of our sleek black Sergei, b) out of focus, c) a metaphor for how my life feels these days, or d) all of the above?

sleek black blur

Did you pick d) ? You’re right!

My life these days is a blur. I’m working way too much, on a project that is racing along at breakneck speed. Everything else is taking a back seat: my husband, our cats, various projects and plans, this blog. I know that this, too, shall pass. I just wish I knew when…

Feline Friday: Catching some flick(er)s

Posted by Kimberly under Cats

watching a flick(er)

For indoor cats, windows are televisions, or perhaps movie screens. Sometimes, the picture is bright and crisp; but often it’s streaky or hazy, or very very dark. The sound is usually muffled, but on nice days, sound quality goes up, and the show comes with Smell-O-Vision. Those are wonderful days!

On Sunday afternoon, Sasha and Sergei grabbed front row seats for a matinee double feature, complete with sound- and smell-tracks, of two recent local releases: Migration of the Northern Flickers and A Tale of Three Crows and a Potato Chip Bag. (Sorry that the promotional shots for these productions are so poor; this is public access programming, and you get what you pay for.)

Sergei and Sasha were entranced. They cackled, they twitched their tails, they stuck their faces right up against the screen. It was a wonderful show!

There’s a fine show going on aboard the Friday Ark. A Byootaful Life hosts Weekend Cat Blogging, where the cool cats will be pictured with their Favorite Things.

Feline Not-quite-Friday: Always watching

Posted by Kimberly under Cats

watching something out there

Sergei is always watching, whether it be Miss Lyra (whom he adores in the clumsy way of a teenage boy), a bug on the wall (which he will likely catch and eat), or something out the window (about which he may comment… or perhaps not). When I have my camera pointed at him, Sergei will often choose not to watch me, unless I talk to him. When I tell him what a handsome boy he is, he mews and struts and preens, he reaches a paw out to me, he does anything but sit still for me to take a picture of his beautiful face.

When I’m talking to Sergei, this is the sort of photo I get of him:

watching me

I guess I can’t blame him; hearing sweet nothings makes me a little soft and fuzzy around the edges, too.

Keep an eye out for all the animals boarding the Friday Ark. And visit Weekend Cat Blogging at What Did You Eat?, where you can watch not only cats, but the cutest baby squirrels.
