A couple of my persistent readers — those gluttons for what? punishment? neglect? who have continued to show up at a blog that has become little more than a parade of cat photos — expressed their concern when a Friday passed without a new photo of Sasha, Lyra or Sergei gracing this page.
Not to worry, y’all. We were on vacation — a vacation that proved to be, unexpectedly, almost internet-free. First there was the New York City hotel (a splurge for our anniversary) where we paid for the wireless internet service, but I couldn’t stay awake long enough to use it for more than checking my email. Next, a night in an absent friend’s Midtown apartment that almost certainly had internet access, but we didn’t feel like trying to figure it out. Having a computer is de rigueur for college students these days, so you’d think there would be internet access in my Providence alma mater’s dorms. In fact, I’m sure there is… but not for visiting alums. At our friends’ house northwest of Boston, we could get on the internet — wirelessly, even — but the computer time there was spent pouring over web sites of lighting fixtures for their kitchen remodel.
After a week on the East Coast, we’re back home. I have photos and stories from the trip, but I’m also back at work, so I’ll have little time for writing until the weekend. There will, of course, be a photo of one of the McKittens on Friday.

i’m still here, but i had inside info so i wasn’t worried
There you are! Woohoooooooo!
Did I mention what a stone-cold groove it was to see you last week? Compared to last Thursday, this one is a cold gray area — at least as cold and gray as it can be while still hitting 90 degrees.
Greatly looking forward to the weekend, and to the accounting of adventures therein!
I am so glad you got to have an actual vacation. Can’t wait to hear stories of your adventures.
Standing by patiently…
And embarrassed that I haven’t had time/inclination to blog in a dangerously long time.
I was gone for the long weekend as well… all the way to Indiana, but by car… boo! I don’t think the cats even missed me. Out of sight, out of mind! I miss your pictures of the Seattle flora and food!!!!
I’m glad you had a safe trip.
And that’s silly about Internet access for visiting alums! You’d imagine if they graduate you, they expect only the best, most high-end, technologically apt alumni? Well, perhaps they’re more of the, “Never mind that, ten years ago computers were still seen as ‘guy things,’ not stuff for everybody, so let’s not bother.” I don’t know
I just remember being 22, in the dorm, with the other girls dismissing my computer as ‘guy stuff.’ Hmph!
I love all your photography. Cats and architecture are two of my fascinations… music too, but that’s harder to photograph.
Hello! Glad to see you back blogging, though I’m one who always checks for the cat pictures, which are such paragons of their kind. You can, you know, practically feel the fur. I’m still not so good with the photography, though I feel like I’ve improved the food photos a lot.
I’m looking forward to hearing some more about your east coast trip. What did you do in NYC.? Just being there always winds me up, the choices of things to do and see are so overwhelming, I sometimes end up just walking around, soaking it up.
