Feline Friday: Sergei steals my spot

I don’t know how things work where you live, but in our house, she who leaves her place in the bed is likely to find, upon her return, that her nice warm spot has been occupied by a cat. (He who leaves his side of the bed is subject to such pranks as well; these cats are equal opportunity warmth hogs.) They have us so well trained that we try not to move them, but rather to find enough space around them in the bed to fit ourselves.

There’s always room for a couple more animals aboard the Friday Ark (#139). There’s a comfy spot in the sunny window (and treats, too!) for Weekend Cat Blogging #102, at Paulchen’s Food Blog. Carnival of the Cats slinks on over to the Cat Blogosphere on Sunday.

  • […] There has been an incident of spotstealing lately at Music and Cats. Sergei has been accused of the crime but… …look at his face, could this be the look (and paw) of a criminal cat? […]

Aww how cute! I know how it is - as soon as you get up, your comfy spot has been STOLEN by a kitty cat! And they always look so peaceful you feel bad moving them so they get the comfy sleep and you get the not-so-comfy sleep! :)

With seven felines, you can imagine how it goes here. On the rare occasion that five decide to sleep on my bed at the same time… frankly, I might as well move into the den, as there is NO room on the bed. That would only lead to a flow of cats to the den where at least three would lay on top of me. Not just beds, but computer chairs, recliners and sofas are occupied. And at supper. With three of us there is a free chair for Mr. Rhett. He would however, prefer one of ours. It literally takes him two seconds after anyone gets up for something, for him to be in that chair. I already know how he will meet his final demise… my mom will not see him and sit on him one day! Mr. Rhett is a lover, but no one will ever equate this Clark Gable with Einstein.

Such a sweet pic - yes, for some odd reasons they seem to have us really well trained those little, furry ones, don’t they…:)

If I was a cat, I would definitely try to be as smart as Serg and find all of the warm spots!! it’s NICE to be a cat!

Hey, just ‘cuz you’re on vacation and doesn’t mean you’re allowed to go a week without a post. And here it is last Friday all over again. It’s like a time vortex.

(whine) Kimberly, you’ve got *responsibilities* to us faithful readers. (/whine)

My pooch has decided that his spot is my Sweetheart’s side of the bed. Sweetheart isn’t trained yet, so I have to coax him to my side–because I am a well trained human.

Love the photo–cute little cat foot.

Every time we see Gorgeous Sergei we think of our Jack…

Sending very many purrs and hugs and headboinks

I’m here to correct a huge, hideous misconception–there is NO SUCH THING as cats stealing human spots; rather, the humans have stolen the cats’ spots, and the sweet, innocent, yet put-upon kitties are only waiting for a chance to claim what should have been theirs the whole time. The only modest compensation they have for being so long-suffering is the residual warmth generated by the interloping human. Thank you for allowing me to correct this misconception (and the opportunity to admire your extremely handsome companion!)
