Feline Friday: Quality control

Posted by Kimberly under Cats

2461-quality control

All work and no play makes Kimberly a dull - and very tired - girl. When I brought work home a couple of nights ago, Sasha joined me at our spacious, well-lit dining room table to do a little quality control.

The quality is always great aboard the Friday Ark. There will be no controlling the cats at IMAO’s Carnival on April Fool’s Day.

Who needs messy dyes when these beauties come straight from the hen in such lovely tints?

Feline Friday: Alpha kitten

Posted by Kimberly under Cats

Sergei is Alpha Kitten

There was no question who was alpha kitten in this sibling pair. Sergei was the stronger and more athletic, and he almost always came out on top. Sweet, mild-mannered Sasha seemed perfectly content to be underkitten to his brother (and, for that matter, to Miss Lyra).

Now that they are fully grown, Sasha is just as big and strong as Sergei. The power politics of their relationship have shifted subtly, and it seems sometimes that Sasha aspires to be alpha cat.

However, some things never change. Sergei still uses Sasha as a pillow.

You can see all the top cats and underdogs aboard the Friday Ark. It’s top cats only at Catsynth’s Weekend Cat Blogging and at the Carnival of the Cats, Sunday at Scribblings.

Market Report: Out came the sun

Posted by Kimberly under Market Report, Photos, Seattle

And with the sun came the people, to wander among the market stalls, to buy cherry blossoms, tulips and daffodils, to flirt with an electric eclectus parrot, to sample the first fiddlehead ferns and the last of the winter’s apples, to dance to a steel guitar.

Feline Friday: Then and now

Posted by Kimberly under Cats

wide-eyed Sasha

4202-sasha

I loved his bright white goggles, the intensity of his baby-blue gaze. Age has added gold to his coloring: the eyes now green, the markings tawny. The intensity of his gaze remains.

What is Sasha watching so intently? Could it be the animals (lambs! squirrels! snakes!) boarding the Friday Ark? Or perhaps he’s waiting to catch a glimpse of the cats at Weekend Cats Blogging (at I Got Two Shoes) and the Carnival of the Cats.
