Tulips are beautiful in bud, their stems straight, blooms tightly furled and glowing with promise. But they are at their loveliest, to my eye, when mature; stems curving, blooms opened fully to expose the intricacies of their color and form.

Wonderful, wonderful post.
I’ve always preferred the young tulips, but now you’ve given me something to think about.
I love how blowsy they are when mature, wide-open, no longer demure. Closer to withering, too.
That top photo is simply spectacular, my dear.
Beautiful….I so love tulips.
yeah, that first photo is lovely. It could be the the cover of a magazine!
Hope you’re beautiful kitty is making a speedy recovery.
You managed to pull off a much more elegant and dignified post on mature beauty than yours truly. These tulips, fully open, are beautiful. I like Shauna’s comment…
These must have come from the farmer’s market… we don’t even have crocus coming up here yet. The poor daffodils that were coerced into blooming with the warm temperatures have withered in the cold wind.
These are magnificent pictures.
Gorgeous!!
I can’t wait to photograph tulips again….
