End of the daily posting season

January 1st, 2007 by Kimberly

Today is the last day of Holidailies, for which I signed up — foolhardy me! — at the end of NaBloPoMo. I posted every day in November. Except for the 14th (windstorm power outage), 21st (the day that this night owl was asleep by 9:30 p.m.) and 25th, I posted every day in December. Some days I posted twice, in order to “catch up.” This — my second post today — will bring my post total for Holidailies to 32. 62 posts in 62 days.

I’m glad that I signed up. I’m glad that I made it through. I’m so glad it’s over.

I would love to continue writing every day, and I expect that I will. However, I won’t be writing here everyday. I have an autobiography to finish for our adoption home study, and that’s my top writing priority now. (I could post answers to some of the questions I have to cover in my autobiography. There’s no topic on the list of questions that hasn’t been addressed by bloggers I’ve read, but I haven’t been a tell-all sort of blogger up to this point, and besides, my family reads this blog.)

One of the pleasures of participating in Holidailies has been discovering new writers. There are quite a few new-to-me blogs that I’ve enjoyed this month, and will continue to read, but I’ll mention only three for now. Two are written by wonderfully engaging writers also in the Seattle area: Thel at Heavy Duty Power and Alice at Margaritas and Mad Hatters. The third blog, Baggage… that goes with mine, is written by a mother who adopted her daughter from the foster care system. By next December, I hope that Paul and will have added to our family in just the same way.

So don’t be surprised or concerned if there’s no new post here tomorrow, or the next day, or the next. If, on the other hand, there’s no cat photo on Friday… well, then you can start to worry.

If it’s the end of that, it must be the start of something new, even if it’s just being still, huh? The cats do a lot of that.

I went back through your year in photos and enjoyed the review thoroughly. So, listen: BlogHer is in Chicago this year, you know…You could come and we could not right about it. Just, say, go to the zoo or something…

I know I could never have done it.

I just found your blog. Sorry you won’t be posting every day, but I will check in via my rss feed to see what you are up to. I love your photos. My daughters do wonderful photography, too.

You have many, many people out here cheering you on! I just know you and your husband will do well in the process. Here’s hoping that next Christmas will be filled with the laughter of your child in your home.
