Is this thing on?

Our house lost power at two o’clock Friday morning. We woke up because the phone in our bedroom beeped that it was dying. Paul checked the time on his watch, and after listening for a while to the wind howling, we went back to sleep.

Our power came back on thirteen hours later. Unfortunately, our internet connection took a while longer; tonight is the first time I’ve been able to get online from home since early Thursday evening. We are lucky; many people in western Washington are still waiting for their lights and heat to come back on, and the temperature is expected to drop into the mid-20′s tonight.

The past three days have been action-packed, but blogging about them will have to wait. Right now, I need a good night’s sleep. Regular blogging will resume tomorrow.

Ohhhhh, I’m so glad that your power is back — and your internet, too. :) As one who went through the power-outage dance not long ago, I’m betting that those were the longest 13 hours of your life. I will keep my fingers crossed for your fellow Seattleites that their power will come back before the weather gets any worse.

The longest my power was out was nearly a week after a freak snowstorm in March in Atlanta. It was warmer outside than inside before we were finished. Hope you get to keep it now that it’s back!

So glad to know that all are warm, safe and now with electricity and internet. Not fun at all.
