It was bad enough that I became a pusher. Now it seems that I’m involved in some crazy pyramid scheme. And all because of ginger cookies. Not just any ginger cookies, but the best ginger cookies evah TM.
A couple of months ago, I joined in the fun of Blogging by Mail, in which bloggers sign up to send a package of favorite (or homemade or local or interesting) foods and food-related items to another blogger, and receive a package in return. I didn’t know anything about Erin, the blogger to whom I would be sending a care package, except that she had a weakness for ginger. A weakness I was happy to exploit.
I found a ginger spice cookie recipe on epicurious.com, a cookie filled with crystallized ginger, and covered in crunchy raw sugar. I baked a batch, modifying the ingredients slightly. The reviews suggested these cookies would be addictive; my taste testers confirmed my suspicions. I wrapped up a little stash of cookies and sent them off to Erin.
Now, for this month’s round of Blogging by Mail, Erin and her friend Jennifer (who is also hosting BBM) have baked the best ginger cookies evah TM, and have sent them to even more people. Erika has received her BBM package from Erin, and has already baked a batch of crack the cookies.
Watch out! The cookie pushers may show up on your corner next.

These cookies are crack for ginger lovers. Eat just one, and you’ll be hooked. You’ll want another. You’ll need another. You’ll have to bake them yourself.
C’mon, have a ginger cookie. Take two, they’re small.
Kidding aside, the best part of sharing wonderful homemade food is seeing someone enjoy the food you’ve made, make the recipe themselves, and pass it on.

Please bring the recipe with you to Houston.
The question I have is: are they crunchy or soft? I was always used to soft such cookies, and boy were they good…. then my family went to Egypt one year, and my mother baked them with the flour they had available there. Totally different result. With each bite we took, a loud and snapping crunch could be heard by anyone in the room. My sister and I sang while eating them, I don’t know if you can imagine the waltz…. Blue Danube, maybe? … it was in dog-cookie commercials in the early 80s… “doo-dooo -dooo -doooo-dooo! CRUNCH, CRUNCH!— CRUNCH CRUNCH!”
Oh man, I want some now! They would go so well with my coffee. Have you posted your recipe of these? I bet you have, I’m going to find it. Yum.
They really are crack. CRACK! I’m going to make them again, for my family, this weekend. I’ll let you know how that goes over.
Nyssa loves gingerbread men, she should love these as well.
And these are the ones you baked?….. YUM!
