After four months of being locked out of the kitchen, the McKittens didn’t know quite what to make of the open-door policy instituted last Saturday. After standing uncertainly at the door for several moments, Lyra slunk into the kitchen, belly almost to the floor, to sniff all that newness. Sasha sat at the door and meowed plaintively for a few minutes before stepping cautiously onto the yellow linoleum. Sergei waited a couple of hours before venturing into the once-forbidden room. For a couple of days, any sudden kitchen noise sent the cats skittering out of the kitchen and up the stairs.
Don’t worry, McKittens; the unfamiliar animals at the Friday Ark are no cause for alarm. There will be lots of new cats to sniff this weekend at Catsynth, which hosts WBC #76, and at Mind of Mog, hosting the Carnival on Sunday.

I love seeing cats check out new things! Congrats on the finishing of the kitchen! It looks marvelous.
Friday Ark #113
We’ll post links to sites that have Friday (plus or minus a few days) photos of their chosen animals (photoshops at our discretion and humans only in supporting roles). Watch the Exception category for rocks, beer, coffee cups, and….? We add boarder…
Cats really do not like change do they. Maybe a box, empty, in a corner will make them feel more at home. Speaking of cats…. they can be herded! I must write about that.
Cats: cute as usual. Is the floor also new? How about a color photo of the floor, the new kitchen and the ceiling? And the new Le Creuset pot?
Funny how, like Lyra, cats show how it’s possible to be both wise (cautious) and silly at the same time!
[…] Take advantage of it kitties, don’t be shy. Enjoy. […]
Carnival Of The Cats #139
I get to host the Carnival of the Cats today, not pretty boy Meowza who got so dirty he couldn’t host it - unclean, unclean, not Izzy who is in a lot of trouble for unspeakable crimes of infamy and pee, not Jezebel the evil temptress, that wench…
