…in our back yard.
As we are currently without a kitchen, we (by which I mean Paul) occasionally fire(s) up the charcoal grill in our back yard for a real home-cooked meal. (In our family, grilling and coffee-making are man’s work. Of course I could do either of them, but why?) What you can’t see in this photo is that the grill is surrounded by construction paraphenalia: old plumbing fixtures, our contractor’s work table, lumber scraps, and more.
Our back yard looks like a junkyard, but right now it smells delicious.

That’s a lot of potatoes! I love the little yellow ones and red ones. Cut them up leaving the skin on, put in a steamer for about 6 minutes, then put on a cookie sheet and sprinkle with garlic salt and fine, fine, finely minced fresh rosemary and bake for about 15 minutes or until the edges start to brown a little. Heavenly.
The grilled vegetables look great. Is the multistory animal house camouflaged by leaves still part of your back yard decor? Barbie
GORGEOUS photos. I don’t know whether I like the sunning black cat or the vegetables more. I keep coming to look, and feel great doing so. Thanks!!!
(P.S. Do you use a phenomenal camera or are you a phenomenal photographer?)
srp: We went a little overboard with the potatoes, so there are plenty of leftovers. I love them roasted w/ garlic and rosemary, too.
Mom: You mean this animal house? Sadly, it has lost its top, but most of it is still there.
anne: Thanks! I have a phenomenal camera, which I’m working hard to learn to use well (although I haven’t yet read the manual). I’ve had it 10 1/2 months now, and just downloaded image #3335.
Something looks really good, too. Wish we were there!
My Sweetheart just got the same phenomenal camera. I have to wait until he gets over the honeymoon stage so I can start to use it some. I suppose the junkyard explains the (fabulous) close-up.
Enough with the beautiful food, cats and flowers already, where’s the construction update? Maybe a little Still Life With Detritus series of the junk in the back yard.
Oooo now I am hungry, inspite of my kitchen incident (something set on fire other then my pride…) I must go make potatoes now.
