Is the market irrationally exuberant, or am I irrationally exuberant about the market? You be the judge.
As anyone who regularly peruses Music and Cats knows, I’ve had a passionate love affair with the Ballard Farmers Market for several years. I’ve watched that market grow from the younger stepsibling of more established markets into a thriving market with a character all its own. So I was thrilled to read that Maki of i was just really very hungry will be hosting Food Destinations #2: Your Local Greenmarket. The challenge is this:
“We are in the last throes of summer here in the northen hemisphere, and the greenmarkets are bursting with colorful produce. So your task is to go out with your camera and your journalistic hat on your head, to survey your favorite local greenmarket. What kind of vendors are there? Where are they coming from? What are they selling? What makes the market unique? Who shops there? What do you love/not love about it?”
I don’t know that I can imagine a food-blogging event that I’ll enjoy more. If you, too, love your local greenmarket / farmers market, why not join in? The deadline is September 2.
Thanks to Alan Greenspan the lovely Bakerina for the title of this post.

Well, YOU help us notice the exuberance.
It’s all up to us to see exuberance, isn’t it?

The squash blossoms are especially luscious… man, I love to fry those things up in butter with breadcrumbs.
