In a comment on my previous post, former Seattle resident ‘mouse stated, “I knew I wasn’t cut out to live in Seattle when I found that I not only disliked the 9am-3:30pm winter light but actually disliked the 4:30am-10:15pm summer light.”
Unlike ‘mouse, I love Seattle’s long summer days. Never mind that they wreak havoc on my internal clock (and the cats’, too); I can live with that. I’ve shown you the view from our bathroom at 4:30 a.m. at this time of year, and thought I’d share an image from the other end of the day - and the other side of the house - as well. At 10:15 p.m., I sat on the sill of my office window, facing north-northwest. I could see lights coming on in Ballard, and in the house across the street. The treetops shimmered in the breeze. I steadied my arm against the window frame, and held my breath as I pressed the shutter. Still, the treetops shimmer in my photos, too.

yummy colors behind the trees…;~))
When Nyssa was in Hawaii she said it was hard to get used to the 6AM to 6PM days. Being so much closer to the equator, their days and nights don’t change much in length. I remember those 9:30 sunsets in Indiana and always wished they would make it to 9 in Mississippi. Somehow I think I would enjoy it.
Whoa…that is truly cool. Since it is so HOT here in the south right now your other post about waking early in the morn and feeling a chill seemed quite eery! ha! It doesn’t get dark here til after 9 pm. Your photos are so great. They give me a feeling of what life is like on the other coast! Thank you..Pam
