Feline Friday: Ribbons down my back?

Lyra has heard that pretty human girls wear ribbons in their hair. Why shouldn’t she? Her efforts are in vain, and some of her soft silver fur is lost in the attempt. Where are those opposable thumbs when you need them?

Will there be anyone with opposable thumbs on the Friday Ark? Gigolokitty (a.k.a. Giggy Bond) will take a little time off from saving the world to host the Carnival of the Cats on Sunday. I’m sure Giggy knows someone who would put ribbons in Lyra’s hair.

Reminds me of the old children’s song, “Oh, Dear, What can the matter be? Johnny’s too long at the fair.” That may not be the title but is the first line. In the song he promises to bring his love a “bunch of blue ribbons” to tie up her hair. Poor Lyra, she knows those colors would look great in her hair.

Oh dear. Lyra needs to know that human girls have it easier because they aren’t covered with hair, so their options are limited. That said, this reminds me of being a little girl and having to wear a mantilla to church to cover my hair. I didn’t wrestle with it, like Lyra, but I used to chew on the edges whenever I got bored.
