Cats! When you ask them to pose for photos, they decline. When you want to photograph something other than them, they become curious. They must see those things to which you’re paying so much attention. And, if the objects in question are small, they may decide to rearrange them for you.
My citrus photo shoot is interrupted by felines. Sergei, ever the artistic director, adjusts the position of one of the mandarins. Sasha studies the minneola, while Sergei contemplates his artistic vision. There is room for only mandarins in this arrangement; the minneola will have to go.
I snap the last photo after Sergei has batted the minneola off the table, but before it hits the floor. Its thud sends both Sergei and Sasha straight up into the air. While airborne, they turn in opposite directions, and are already running away when they land.
There’s always something interesting to see at the Friday Ark. This Sunday, the Carnival of the Cats will be at Justin’s Random Thoughts. And don’t forget! Next weekend the Second Anniversary Carnival will be here at Music and Cats. If you’ve never done any cat blogging, now’s the time to start. Hey, if you don’t have a cat, now’s the time to get one… and then blog about it! And if you don’t have a blog… well, get one of those, too.

Those pictures tell a story!
I have two cats and a blog and need my head examined.
It is funny how cats will do exactly the opposite of what you want!
What a wonderful kitty vignette! With the great pictures and associated story, I felt like I was there to watch the two cats scatter in surprise.
while I was cooking breakfast, a tiny mousie ran out from underneath my stove (I can’t believe I screamed) and my cat Bella caught it and proceeded to walk to the bathroom with it in her mouth. I shut the door and when I opened it again, they were staring at each other. Poor mousie. I told Bella she couldn’t come out until “it was done”.

must be the smell of the oranges that they love. mmmm fragrant.
I took a picture of my ex-inlaws new bedroom with one of those Polaroid instant picture cameras. As it developed a dark splotch was right in the middle at the bottom of the picture. It was Shamroc our male Siamese, striking a perfect sitting pose, eyes straight to the camera, tail gracefully curved and his body situated on the floor at the bottom of the bed, totally centered. We hadn’t even known he was in the room. How do they do that?
What a delightful interlude of a story.
This is great fun. Sophie’s favorite game is pushing this and that off the shelves and my desk- a surefire way to get my attention. This series of four photos is delightful- and you have a new masthead photo, too. I’m partial to gray kitties.
