What’s that growing in our kitchen? Three days ago, Paul brought home a puck of sawdust tied up in part of an old pair of pantyhose. That’s what it looked like, anyway. The hose-clad puck came with instructions: keep moist, and place in indirect light. It’s January in Seattle; moisture and indirect light are about all we have to offer. And it seems our kitchen has good indirect light; tiny sprouts have begun to poke through the pantyhose two days ahead of schedule. Over the next couple of weeks, these little sprouts (a mix of wheat grass, oat grass, barley, rye and catnip) will soak up our moisture and indirect light, and they’ll grow and grow and grow. The Kitty Garden will have a place on our kitchen counter, beneath the window and next to the sink, until the sprouts are six inches high.
Then we’ll feed them to the McKittens.
