Feline Friday: Kill the weasel

in Cats

For reasons that I can’t remember, Paul took to calling Sergei’s favorite toy the weasel. It’s a gray, fur-covered rodent with beady red eyes, a 3-inch tail, and a rattle in its belly. That’s how it starts out, anyway. After a couple of months of Sergei’s ardent attention, the weasel will have lost eyes, tail and rattle… but as long as it has a few scraps of fur still clinging to its plastic body, Sergei will continue to play with it.

These photos feature Sergei with Weasel VIII, or perhaps IX, which still has a tail and a rattle, although Sergei has chewed a hole into its little plastic belly through which its small rattling innards will soon be shaken.

Are there any weasels on the Friday Ark? Carnival of the Cats will be at When Cats Attack on Sunday.

Sergei reminds me of the singing Kilban Cat:
Love to eat them mousies
Mousies what I love to eat
Bite they little heads off
Nibble on they tiny feet.

Go Sergei.

SRP–yup, that’s the song! Kimberly, your photos are always great, but this bunch is wonderfully ridiculous.

The first photo reminds me of something my long-departed grandmother used to say to her cat, Sweetie Face: “Oh, I’ve seen enough of your rosebud!” That made me laugh because I can’t tell if they are just oblivous or if they’re flaunting it. :-) Sergei is doing a nice job on that weasel. And When Cats Attack did a nice job on Carnival this week!

You mean you haven’t thrown out that dead mouse since we were there in August?! By the way, as Boo was trying to talk himself to sleep tonight, he was chanting, “Seattle. Seattle. See-a-tul. Seattle.” I had to smile.

Sergei is LOVELY! Black and white cats are my favorite. We have two: Slizzy and Olivia. Olivia has a small black and white toy similar to the weasel that you describe. The eyes are always the first thing to go!

Cheers!
