After a trip to the farmers market, I took my camera out for a walk around our block. The fog and drizzle have made for poor raking weather, so our neighbors’ yards are layered with leaves, their colors ranging from cream to gold to blood red.
Most of the blooms on our next door neighbor’s seven-foot mop-head hydrangea have aged from blue to pink. Only this single cluster of flowerettes, low on the north side of the bush, still retains its original color.
For most of the year, our back-yard neighbor’s Japanese maples are clad in fluttering green lace. Each November, that lace canopy bursts into flames.

Michele sent me.
hello, i come from Michele’s.
the pictures are great! i really liked the red leaves, such great fall color.
Lovely photos….visiting via Michele’s. I love your cat shot on your banner. It reminds me of my boy Darius, esp the white whiskers.
What are the blue flowers? The third one is a Japanese maple isn’t it? All beautiful.
My brother wanted to know my wish for Christmas. I was very tempted to tell him a new digital camera. But college money for Nyssa is much more practical. Your camera is really getting some great shots.
Beautiful photos, Kim! I love hydrangeas… my grandmother had the biggest hydrangea plant I have ever seen, but it’s gone now. The Japanese maple is absolutely gorgeous, too!
I arrived by way of your comment on Carmi’s site. Nice blog and beautiful photos! I so love Autumn!
Lovely photos. Your climate is clearly so much milder than ours- our leaves have been done and gone for several weeks now. I like the hydrangea!
Nice!
What beautiful flowers. I live in FL and after Wilma came through we have very few trees left. But the birds are back and the flowers are still here. It’s good look at the small things everynow and then. Like your first photo - the things that are right underneath our feet that we just don’t take the time to notice.
Hey, today feels like a Friday! Feels like I ought to be looking at a cat.
I just discovered your blog, and love the photos. Your cats are beautiful.
Absolutely beautiful shots!
