Where am I?

September 4th, 2005 by Kimberly

main building

Although I’m home in Seattle now, this morning Paul and I were somewhere far from home. Shortly before we left that place today, I photographed this building. Can you guess where it is?

Here are a few hints:

  1. Paul and I travelled seven hours (each way) from Seattle to visit this place. Our transportation was the quickest way to get there from Seattle… these days.
  2. This building was built in 1917, and has been in continuous use by the school that built it ever since.
  3. Had Paul not been involved with the school that owns this place, I probably would never have heard of it — unless I’d read the article about it in Vanity Fair a year or two ago.
  4. This place is located in the second largest county in the United States (oops! - and to confirm srp’s guess) California.
  5. This place is fewer than 20 miles from the site of the oldest recorded living thing on earth.

Some of our family and friends know where we’ve been this weekend; y’all, please don’t tell. I’ll write something about our trip in the next day or so, but there will be a prize for anyone who figures it out before then.

(Hint: the next photo should help anyone who has spent any time in this part of the world. Further hint: the name on the sign is a pun.)

I have no idea where this is. I’m in New York, so that might have something to do with it. I love the pictures of your cats, so cute!

    Oh, Michele sent me :-)

Hello, Michele sent me. I am clueless. Oh sure, plenty of clues. But I’m clueless.

Are you somewhere in California near the redwood national forest?
Other than that I have no clue.

Whether or not it is the place I read about here (I couldn’t find a picture to confirm), I’ve learned some very interesting things while playing this little game. I hope you had a nice weekend!
