For almost three months, I have been madly in love with the new WordPress version of Music and Cats. As in the getting-to-know-you phase in any relationship, there have been one or two minor misunderstandings, but on the whole, things have been great… until yesterday morning. I discovered that, for some unfathomable reason, my previously friendly WordPress blog was loading only blank pages. Sure, it would speak to me, but it was keeping everything I wrote a secret from you. And really, what good is that?
Paul and I (but mostly Paul) have been trying to solve this problem. We are, so far, stumped… except that we believe the problem to be in the .htaccess file that redirects permalinks in WordPress. When we delete that file entirely, Music and Cats will load again… but it now refuses to show anything other than its front page. No categories, no archives, and – horrors – no comments.
Does anyone reading have a long-standing, well developed relationship with WordPress? If so, do you have any suggestions? I’d say leave me a comment, but you can’t really do that right now. However, my contact email still works fine.
I’ve always said that I’d dump anyone who wouldn’t let me talk to my friends, or would keep them from talking to me. WordPress, dearest, did you hear that?
