Sergei likes to drink from the bathroom faucets, both sink and tub. Never mind that a frequently-refilled water bowl sits immediately adjacent to the pedestal of this sink; he often leaps up onto the sink for a drink immediately after I’ve filled the bowl.
Sergei seems to think that he’s getting away with something bad when he drinks from the sink. When I try to photograph him at it, he usually startles and flees.

Have you tried a cat water fountain? My guys love it.
Max loved running water so much we bought him a water fountain. Now he eaves the sinks alone….hopefully the kitten, Buddah, will take a hint soon, too.
Chocolate Chip does the same thing, and he knows the faucet in the kitchen is going to be turned on when we pick up the coffee pot in the morning and he runs and jumps IN the sink to wait.

My cat does something similar. She will jump up the kitchen countertop whenever I turn on the kitchen tap then meow loudly until she gets to drink from it. Some how to her, that is water fresh from the tap even though I just put a fresh bowl out for her.
I have a little water fountian (not a cat fountain, just a little fountain with rocks in it to give a nice sound in the house), and both my cats almost exclusively use it to drink out of (I have to add water usually 2 to 3 times a day). I keep a water bowl down for them, but they only rarely drink out of the bowl, usually it’s straight to the fountain.
