Several pigeons frequent the roof of the apartment building next to our house. When I hear the pigeons’ soft, trilling calls, I open our bedroom curtains. It’s as if I’ve turned on CAT TV. The McKittens gather on the trunk to watch and cackle. Like observers at a tennis match, they turn their heads in unison to follow the action. I doubt, however, that the spectators at Wimbledon are twitching their tails as they watch the ball fly back and forth.
The Friday Ark has lifted the traditional Ark’s “two by two” requirement. Carnival of the Cats will be at Another Fine Mess on Sunday.

Why should they watch Wimbledon, it’s time delayed. This action is live. Cats always know a good thing when they see it.
Friday Ark
Cats, Dogs, Spiders and ? every Friday. We’ll post links to sites that have Friday (plus or minus a few days) photos of their chosen animals as I see them (photoshops at our discretion and humans only in supporting roles). Leave a comment or trackback…
OMG!!! LOL!!!
I love this picture…it’s too funny! What a great shot!
Give my distate for pigeons, I would love for your cats to cease to be spectators and to have the opopportunity to play tennis with them. I can just imagine Sergei batting them around.
That is a wonderful photograph! B
Great picture! I love when cats do things together.
This is a great picture for the Flickr “Cats in windows” group: http://www.flickr.com/groups/windowcats/
We’ve got a nest of bluebirds in our dogwood tree and two of our three cats sit in the kitchen , by the window, transfixed.
Hilarious post. Cat enjoyment can be so fun to watch. Thanks for a good picture and story.
The previous commenter stole my line: HILARIOUS! But no matter how much disdain you have for pigeons, don’t let those cats out of the house. Cleaning up after our killer bird dogs, as one of us had to do today, isn’t for the faint-hearted.
I love to hear kitties chirp at birds! It’s a hoot! (Ok, well a chirp, not a hoot… Well, you know what I mean!)
Awwww! What a sweet photo!
Both your headline and your photo of the McKittens makes me think of the old Monty Python sketch “The News for Parrots,” in which Michael Palin reads the news targeted to various animals, i.e. “No parrots were involved in this morning’s three-car crash on the M1…” Looking at this photo, I can hear Michael Palin saying, “This morning the Minister of Finance met with French officials to discuss trade. They did not scratch on the scratching post, play with the catnip mousie or eat any of the nice fish, yum yum…”
Okay, it was a long way to go to make the point. Maybe you just have to live inside my head to find it so amusing.
Hello, Michele sent me!
What I funny story! I can also imagine that the spectators at Wimbledon also don’t want to EAT what they are watching go back and forth!
